In coordination with our high performance computing sponsor, the Ohio Supercomputer Center, and their connection with the Transportable Satellite Internet System (TSIS) project, free wireless internet will be available to all of the racers and spectators in attendance at the Bonneville salt flats.
Anyone who may be out on the salt flats during the event is welcome to stop by our pit area to check out the Buckeye Bullet 2, a hydrogen fuel cell electric streamliner, entirely designed and built by Ohio State engineering students. (Or to get a better signal!)
We will be using this connection to provide more up-to-date updates to this blog, and bring more photos and videos as well!
Some statistics about the portable internet system:
- Downlink: 1.5 Mbps/sec
- Uplink: 512Kbps/sec
- Wireless: 802.11b
- Range: 1000 feet in buildings
